Forum Shuffle Help
The first two columns on the left side of the
screen show the current ordering of the forums in
your system. The two columns on the right side
of the screen show what the new ordering will be
after making the changes you've requested. In
the center of the screen is a column of forum
numbers that you can change. This column of
number is associated with the forum names at the
left.
Go down the center column of numbers changing the
numbers to reflect the new forum number you want
for each of the forums at the left. As you make
the changes, the column of forums at the right
will be updated to reflect each change. When
you've finished making all the changes, the
column on the right will indicate the new order of
the forums.
When you're in the middle of your changes, the
column of forums at the right may look totally
screwed up. Don't panic! Wait till you've
finished entering ALL the new forum numbers and
THEN check the righthand column. If it still
looks screwed up, then go ahead and panic. (Just
kidding, though you probably should abort the
process by pressing ESC and indicating you do NOT
want to make the changes.)
When you've finished making all the changes,
press ESC or click on the box in the upper left
of the window with your mouse. You will then be
asked if you want to go ahead and make the
changes you've just entered. If you select Yes,
all the necessary files will be updated to reflect
the new forum ordering. Be forewarned, this may
take anywhere from a few minutes to upwards of an
hour depending on the speed of your systems, the
number of forums you have, and the number of users
registered in those forums. A LOT of data has to
be reorganized. Once you start the process
there's no stopping it, so if you have any doubts,
select No when asked if you want to proceed. As
the update proceeds, you will be shown a status
screen so you have some idea how far along things
are.
